Sunday 15th November, 10.30am Nashenden Valley, Medway, for fungi.

Meet at Stoney Lane ME1 3QJ, off Maidstone Road, Rochester, TQ 73853 64511, W3W awake.grapes.pages, where there is parking on the left-hand road verge.

The wood is quite hilly, with some distinct habitats including a damp low section with elm, hornbeam, sweet chestnut, oak, hazel etc. (typical finds include Cholociboria, RhodotusCortinarius, Tricholoma, clavarioids), a big area of beech (Candolleomyces leucotephrus found last year), and a higher up section with pines, yew and cypress.

PLEASE NOTE: For all fungus meetings this year, attendees must inform the leader by email at least 24hrs beforehand that they intend to come, and leave a mobile phone number. The leader will then email back their own mobile number in case of cancellation/difficulties.

Anyone thinking of joining the Club is welcome to attend a field meeting, no prior notice is necessary.

All field meetings start at 10.30am unless otherwise indicated.

Field Meetings information

Beginners to a particular field of study are very welcome at all meetings. Also anyone thinking of joining the Club is welcome to attend a field meeting, no prior notice is necessary. Kent Field Club field visits and indoor winter meetings are free to members (except the annual Wildlife Conference)

Please bring a packed lunch to all full day meetings. All field meetings start at 10.30am unless otherwise indicated.

Stay safe on field meetings:

  • Dress appropriately for the weather. Stay warm and dry in Winter, cool in Summer.
  • Wear strong, waterproof boots with good ankle support and well-treaded soles.
  • Carry, and use, a high SPF sun cream in bright weather.
  • Ensure your tetanus inoculations are up-to-date.
  • In Summer, carry plentiful supplies of water and drink frequently.
